In 1875 Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old Czech immigrant, opened a small jewelry shop on Maiden Lane in New York City.
By 1912 Bulova had set up its first plant dedicated
to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled
movements in Bienne, Switzerland. In 1923 the name
Bulova Watch Company, Inc. was adopted. Bulova perfected a new concept in the
watch industry of total standardization of parts. Every part of a Bulova watch
was made with such precision (standardized to the ten thousandth of an inch)
that it was interchangeable with the same part in any other Bulova watch. This
revolutionized the servicing of watches in the industry. The Bulova Watch Company went public on the American Stock
Exchange in 1927.
This is an excellent example of a very rare Bulova Art Deco
timepiece. It features a 14K Gold Filled 2-Tone case and a really
fantastic face. This watch was made in the late 1920's. It is triple
signed and measures 34mm end to end and 30mm wide, including the gold
crown. The 14K Gold Filled case is in excellent
condition and features white gold with yellow gold accents around the
bezel. The movement is a 15 jewels Bulova 10AN which sets and
winds smoothly and is running well and keeping excellent time. The
dial is very unique, featuring a fantastic silver finish
with filled in numerals that compliment the beautiful period hands.
The crystal is in excellent condition. The back of the case
has no personal engraving and is in excellent condition. It is
marked on the inside PAT. JUN. 11 1927 BULOVA 14K GOLD FILLED NEW YORK.
Comes fitted with a brand new 20mm leather strap. A
very cool watch.
This is a beautiful example of a 14K Gold Filled 2-Tone
Bulova watch that is almost 80 years old.
