In 1875 Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old Czech immigrant, opened a small jewelry shop on Maiden Lane in New York City.  By 1912 Bulova had set up its first plant dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements in Bienne, Switzerland.  In 1923 the name Bulova Watch Company, Inc. was adopted.  Bulova perfected a new concept in the watch industry of total standardization of parts. Every part of a Bulova watch was made with such precision (standardized to the ten thousandth of an inch) that it was interchangeable with the same part in any other Bulova watch. This revolutionized the servicing of watches in the industry. The Bulova Watch Company went public on the American Stock Exchange in 1927.

This is an excellent example of a very rare Gothic Watch Company Jar Proof Art Deco timepiece. Looks a lot like Bulova Lone Eagle and features a 14K Gold Plated case. Just check out the fantastic detail around the bezel! This watch was made in the late 1920's.  It is double signed and measures 35mm end to end and 28mm wide, including the silver crown.  The 14K Gold Plated case is in excellent condition.  The movement is a 15 jewels Gothic New York Swiss made which sets and winds smoothly and is running well and keeping excellent time.  The dial is very unique,  featuring a fantastic silver  face with open numerals that compliment the beautiful period hands.  The crystal  is in excellent condition.  The back of the case has no personal engraving and is in good condition.  It is marked on the inside PIONEER WATCH CASE CO WARRANTEED SUPER QUALITY.  Comes fitted with a brand new 16mm leather strap.  A very cool watch.

This is a beautiful example of a 14K Gold Plated Gothic New York Jar Proof watch that is almost 80 years old.
